Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Forum (Economics • 2010)& the Ninth International Forum on Urban Competitiveness

Initiated by the Global Urban Competitiveness Project Team (GUCP), sponsored by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Nanjing People's Government, coordinated by the CASS Institute of Finance and Trade Economics, CASS International Cooperation Bureau, Nanjing Academy of Social Sciences, China (Nanjing) Academy of Urban Development and Strategy, and supported by Better Hong Kong Foundation and the CASS Centre for City and Competitiveness, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Forum (Economics • 2010)& the Ninth International Forum on Urban Competitiveness will be held on June 24th,2010 in the Nanjing Purple Palace .

The forum's theme is: “Technology Innovation: to enhance the city competitiveness.” Wang Weiguang , Vice-secretary of the Party Group and executive vice-president of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhu Shanlu, Standing Committee member of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Nanjing Party Secretary, Ji Jianye, Nanjing Mayor, Hong Yinxing,  party secretary of Nanjing University, other city leaders from Wuxi, Nanchang, Ningbo, Hefei, Nantong, Guangzhou, Qingdao , Hangzhou and international and domestic experts and scholars in related areas, as well as reporters and journalists, nearly to 200 people will attend the meeting, giving advice to raise the city competitiveness.

The Forum is composed of Summit Forum and four parallel forums. Summit Forum will be held on the morning of June 24,with two parts of the opening ceremony and the "Technology Innovation: to enhance the city competitiveness" theme seminar. Four parallel forum are distributed on the afternoon of June 24th and the morning of June 25th, which are: Round-table conference of Best Case City heads; city and technological innovation: an expert conferences; the release and study of the Global Urban Competitiveness Report; the release and study of World Cities report.

By then, the meeting will hold the launch ceremonies of "Annual Report of Global City Connection" from GUCP / GAWC, "The Global Urban Competitiveness Report,"( English version), " The Global Competitiveness Report 2009-2010," and "Technology Innovation: to enhance the city competitiveness of Nanjing”.

The Forum will last for two days. During this period, the Chinese city managers will have an in-depth theoretical discussion and exchange of experience about "Technology innovation enhances city competitiveness "with experts and scholars from the United States, Canada, China, Britain, the Netherlands, Mexico, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China and other countries and regions, providing advice for the sustainable development of cities.

International Forum on Urban Competitiveness is held every year, inviting scholars on urban competitiveness, officials and entrepreneurs to participate. So far, it has been successfully held for 8 times in Qingdao, Ottawa and other places , causing widespread concern and a significant impact at home and abroad .
