Li Yang,was born in September, 1951 in Huaiyuan of Anhui Province. He took his first job inNovember, 1968 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in June, 1984. Heis now Academy Member of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Researcherand PhD. From November, 1968 to December, 1970 during the Great CulturalRevolution period, he was banished to the countryside in Tangshan Town,Huainan city, Anhui Province.From December, 1970 to February, 1978, he worked at Anhui Huainan Constructionand Installation Company. From February, 1978 to December, 1981, he studied atEconomics Department at Anhui University. From December,1981 to December, 1984, he worked on Master’s Degree at FudanUniversity (sponsored by Anhui University).From December, 1984 to October, 1986, he worked as teacher at Economics Departmentat Anhui University. From October, 1986 to July,1989, he studied for Doctor’s Degree at Finance Department at Renmin Universityof China. From July, 1989 to June, 1991, he worked as researcher at the Institute of Finance and Trade Economics at CASS. FromJune, 1991 to March, 1994, he acted as Vice Director of Finance and Trade Labof Institute of Finance and Trade Economics at CASS (during this period, he wasselected to be Associate Researcher in August 1991) and from March, 1994 toFebruary, 1995, he was appointed the Director. From February, 1995 to September,1998, he served as the Vice Director of Institute of Finance and TradeEconomics at CASS (During this period, he was selected as Researcher in August,1995). From September, 1998 to March, 1999, he went to the United States asVisiting Scholar (not taking charge of Vice Director of the Institute duringthis period). From March, 1999 to February, 2003, he was reappointed ViceDirector of Institute of Finance and Trade Economics at CASS (During thisperiod, he was selected Deputy Party Secretary through general election inJanuary, 2000). From February, 2003 to September, 2008, he took the position ofDirector of Institute of Finance at CASS and Temporary Party Committee Secretary(During this period, he was elected Party Committee Secretary in November, 2003).From September, 2008 to July, 2009, he served as Director of Institute ofFinance at CASS. Since July, 2009, he has been appointed as Party Member andVice President of CASS, as well as Director of Institute of Finance.
