Pei ChangHong
Pei ChangHong,was born on May 15, 1954 inMinhou of Fujian Province. He is Party member, PhD of Economics, Researcher andDoctoral Supervisor. Currently, he serves as Director of Institute ofIndustrial Economics at CASS and Secretary of the CPC Party Committee. He is memberof the 12th CPPCC and a famous economist.
He has longengaged in researches of international trade and investment, finance andservice economics His doctoral dissertation “Utilization of Foreign Capital andIndustrial Competitiveness” won National Hundred Outstanding DoctoralDissertation Award issued by AcademicDegrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education in 2000.Since 2003, he has published dozens of papers on Chinese Social Sciences, Qiushi Journal, People's Daily, Economic Research, China'sIndustrial Economy, Finance and Trade Economics, International Trade andother major newspapers and magazines. At the same time, he has published morethan ten theses on English journals at home and abroad, including two research achievementswhich won Research Award issued by the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and oneresearch achievement which won AnZiJie Award for International Trade Research Worksin 2008. He has received a special allowance from the State Council since 1996,and has been chosen to join the "Four Batches” Talents Project of the CPCCentral Committee Publicity Department.
He served as Directorof CASS Foreign Affairs Bureau for five years, and Director of CASS Instituteof Finance and Trade Economics for six years. In September, 1997, he acted as UnitedNations Educational,Scientific,andCultural Organization (UNESCO)China Committeemember, and in December, 2000 the UNESCO International Council for ScienceExecutive Member. He has won three honorary international exchange titles: inOctober, 2000, he was awarded Honorary Doctor by Institute of Far East Studies atRussian Academy of Sciences; in April, 2001 he was awarded Honorary ForeignAcademician by Russian Academy of Natural Sciences; in July, 2001, he wasawarded the state honorary title of "Kentucky Colonel" by the USKentucky governor Paule. From February, 2003 to September, 2004, he wasappointed Vice Mayor of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, in charge of economicsystem reform, government legal system, foreign affairs and governmentfinancial affaires.
